Donald Trump has firmly rejected a fresh proposal put forward by Iran, calling it “unacceptable” after reviewing its details. Speaking to the media, Trump made it clear that although Iran appears interested in reaching an agreement, he remains dissatisfied with the terms offered. He emphasized that certain aspects of the proposal do not align with U.S. interests, leaving no room for compromise in its current form. Alongside dismissing Iran’s offer, Trump announced a new initiative focused on the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz. The initiative, named “Project Freedom,” aims to assist commercial ships currently stranded in the region due to heightened tensions in the Gulf. According to Trump, several countries with no direct involvement in the Middle East conflict have requested U.S. support to help their vessels pass safely through the restricted waters. Trump stated that the United States is prepared to facilitate secure transit for these ships to ensure global trade is not disrupted. He highlighted that many of the affected vessels belong to nations unrelated to the ongoing tensions, reinforcing the need for a neutral and humanitarian response. The plan includes coordinating safe escorts through sensitive maritime routes, allowing trade activities to continue efficiently. At the same time, Trump issued a strong warning against any attempts to interfere with this operation. He said any obstruction would be handled decisively, underlining the seriousness of maintaining open shipping lanes. Separately, reports, including one by The Times of Israel, confirmed Trump’s rejection of Iran’s proposal. He also reiterated his appeal to Isaac Herzog to consider pardoning Benjamin Netanyahu in his ongoing legal cases, adding another layer to the broader geopolitical developments. Overall, Trump’s stance signals continued tension between the United States and Iran, while also highlighting Washington’s intent to secure international trade routes amid growing instability in the region.
