Prime Video releases full trailer for Mike Flanagan's Carrie

We also have Samantha Sloyan as Carrie’s mother, Margaret White; Michael Trucco as John Hargensen, a wealthy lawyer and father to mean girls ringleader Chris (Alison Thornton); Rahul Kohli as Harold Allison, Margaret’s stepfather; Ruth Codd as Cara; Matthew Lillard as Principal Henry Grayle; Katee Sackhoff as Judith Brigham, Margaret’s mother; Heather Graham as Mrs. Hargensen; Tahmoh Penikett as Margaret’s late husband and Carrie’s father, Ralph White; and Kate Siegel in an as-yet-undisclosed role. All we’ve really seen so far is a brief teaser that debuted at SDCC. The new trailer fleshes out the basic premise, giving us a Carrie who has been homeschooled all her life and is clearly not equipped to deal with the harsh realities of high school in the 2020s. Otherwise, there are no surprises, just the expected bullying and the naive Carrie’s shock at getting her first period (famously depicted in the original film), updated for a contemporary audience. But one wouldn’t expect Prime Video to reveal much more in a trailer. I’m still not completely sold, but I’m also still willing to give Flanagan the benefit of the doubt. He’s got a helluva track record. Carrie premieres on October 7 on Prime Video.
