Dubai Unveils First Fully Underground Metro Gold Line to Transform City Connectivity Dubai has announced an ambitious new Metro Gold Line project, marking the city’s first fully underground rail corridor aimed at reshaping urban mobility. Spanning around 42 kilometres with 18 stations, the line will connect key districts from Al Ghubaiba to Jumeirah Golf Estates, linking historic areas with emerging residential and commercial hubs. Designed with advanced tunnelling technology, the project will minimise surface disruption while significantly expanding the metro network. The Gold Line will integrate with existing Red and Green Lines and connect to Etihad Rail, creating a seamless multi-modal transport system. Authorities expect the project to ease congestion on busy routes, cut millions of road trips annually, and improve travel efficiency for residents and visitors. With an estimated investment of AED 34 billion, the line is scheduled for completion by 2032 and is projected to serve nearly 1.5 million people, while also boosting property values and supporting sustainable urban development across Dubai.
